MAKE JOYFUL
CHOICES
Make joyful
choices and
do what is
right,
tell
your family you love them,
hug and kiss them each night.
Our footsteps
are counted
by the Lord
from above,
then he takes
us to Heaven
on the wings
of a dove.

The Story of the
Blue Rose
Some
people may ask, “Where do you find a blue rose?”
A blue rose is
found in the heart of those who are truly loving. They are friends to
the friendless and say “Hey, let’s play!” to anyone, regardless of who
they are. Our son Michael, we found out, was one such person.
On
the night of the visitation, when literally hundreds of friends and
family came to support us after our tragic loss, one person stood out
among the crowd. He was a young man that lived across the street from
us, who loved to play with Michael and came to the door asking for him
often. He came carrying a hand-made card and a single blue rose.
Upon reading the
card, we discovered that he considered Michael to be a rare friend, as
the blue rose is rare. It was a simple gift, one he hoped would comfort
us in our time of sorrow, but it was a gift that will always be
remembered by our family.
There were other friends of Michael’s that came to us and expressed that
they considered him a good friend- a friend when no one else would be.
He was someone who would treat others nicely, even if they weren’t being
nice to him, or were making fun of him.
Michael was never a
“book-learning” student- he liked school but didn’t like school work.
However, he knew how to be a friend, have fun, and include everyone.
That, in many ways, is much more important, and will be what he is
remembered for.
